PHILOSOPHY
Central to the design philosophy of the practice is the creation of an ARCHITECTURE OF RELEVANCE derived from an approach to problem solving which integrates the following ingredients:
CLIENT
The Client/Architect relationship is built on mutual respect and trust. Establishing that trust through hard work, exceptional service and a commitment to be fair and ethical has led to true client satisfaction, repeat commissions, recommendations and referrals
COST
Not only should the Client get what he/she pays for but he/she should be satisfied that the architect has designed and administered the project within his/her budget. The firm therefore places considerable emphasis on good management and cost control, and along with the quantity surveyor, ensures that the Client is kept up to date and in a position to make timely cost decisions so as to prevent major cost related problems in the future.
CLIMATE
Each project is undertaken with an acute awareness of the macro and micro climatic zone in which it is located. Protection from the elements, particularly the sun and rain, prevalent natural hazards such as hurricanes, earthquakes and floods, and a dedication to the safety of building occupants is therefore of primary concern.
CONTEXT
Sensitivity to and a respect for the project locale and environmental conditions strongly influence the design process. The firm is continually aware that architects must take the lead in ensuring sustainable development, protecting the physical environs and minimising the impact of negative influences while shaping a built environment to the overall benefit of the society.
CULTURE
Architecture is for people. The architect must be knowledgeable of the culture and history of the immediate stakeholders and the society at large, and should therefore respect, understand and interpret the Client's needs with this in mind.
CONCEPT
The firm adopts a team approach to analyse problems, produce a variety of ideas and test concepts to maximise the potential for producing the best results within the given programmatic parameters and time frames of the particular project.
